A Post for the Old Year

Going to Sleep

Now that the day wearies me,
My yearning desire,
will receive more kindly,
like a tired child, the starry night

Hence, leave off your deeds
mind, forget all thoughts;
All of my forces
yearn only to sink into sleep.

And my soul, unguarded,
would soar on widespread wings,
to live in a night's magical sphere
More profoundly, more variously.

Mathangi, we danced together at Esquina last time I was in Austin. I'll go to Austin again soon, was glad to see you've graduated and found a spot at a great university. But, sorry you're no longer in Austin.

Compliments on your blog - some very moving stuff. My own latest is at .

Fred, how lovely to hear from you and thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I remember dancing together and it's such a wonderful surprise to hear from you, especially on the first day of the year.

I miss Austin and Esquina too and am hoping to be able to visit sometime soon. Do come by more.

I also just went by your blog and would love to perhaps have more of an extended conversation about your work. I see you haven't blogged on conscious manager in a while and was wondering how best to reach you.

Wish you and your family a wonderful 2011.

Hi Mathangi,

I hope you have wonderful travels in India. After the Texas trip (visiting my daughter in Tyler), I go to Peru to teach a short course. Then I suppose it's back to the grindstone for both of us as the new semester begins.

I did go to Esquina with two Austin friends on New Year's Eve, and it was great fun. Monica is pregnant and glowing.

My Maastricht School of Management address,, will be my most stable university email, and for outside.

Glad to see we also have academic interests in common - I will ask you to referee the occasional paper for Technological Forecasting & Social Change. (You were kind to reply to me, and now I'm going to take advantage of you ;-)

Best wishes,
